Sean Evans California or the climb of a business entrepreneur leader

Sean Evans or the rise of a entrepreneur leader: Sean Evans grew up visiting his family cattle ranch every Thanksgiving. That same ranch is now the location of his family winery. The values and closeness of Sean’s early Thanksgivings with family translated to the founding of My Wine Society. The community life that was important to Sean’s upbringing is noticeable in many of the social features of the My Wine Society app. Sean’s creativity and ability to connect with people extends into the MWS Loyalty Club, a monthly subscription box that sends members wine and gifts in a themed box every month. Q: What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months? My Wine Society is a fun company. We provide people with wine and wine accessories. It is difficult to have a tough time. The toughest decisions I have to make for MWS are related to budgets, employees, and wine. The decisions aren’t tough when you act decisively. What do you think it is that makes you successful? My success is found in the ability to learn from my mistakes. Successful entrepreneurs will tell you that mistakes are easy to come by. You will hear that people love to point the mistakes out when you make them. I try to take note of where the mistake was made and adjust (or adapt) so I never make the same mistake twice.

Q: Who have been some of your mentors? Can you share a story about how they made an impact? A: I’ve had many mentors over the years, including some of the greats like Jamey Power of JD Power and Associates, Hassan Smith who’s on my Advisory Board still and works with artists like John Legend, just to name a few. These guys have taught me to slow down, plan for 2 years out and work backward to solutions and to always get the little things right first. I struggle with that this day as I’m always living in the clouds! I have been in Management Consulting for 15 years, working across all industries and for every stage company ranging from startups to public, multibillion dollar organizations. I had the unique opportunity to import necessary supplies during the pandemic and began by importing masks. That led to importing gloves and eventually to the acquisition of Gloves.com.

Motivation through Gamification: Gamification motivates people to perform better. Introducing gaming elements such as a leader board or scoreboard creates a competitive environment, encouraging participants to perform and score well. Awarding points for each achievement and providing badges as rewards inspires the trainees to enhance their performance in the next task. Improves Problem Solving Skills: Simulation and virtual training environments are risk-free and hence participants are free to test their skills in an online environment. There’s no harm even if they commit a mistake. Participants can implement their knowledge in virtual scenarios and get real-time feedback. This will help them avoid mistakes in a real-world scenario. This exercise helps in developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Sean Evans or the upsurge of a entrepreneur top professional: The role of family offices has changed in the last 20 years, driven by the proliferation of wealth and dramatic increase in the number of millionaires, centimillionaires and billionaires around the world. There also has been a surge in the number of family offices and more sophisticated investors. This new breed of ultra-high-net-worth families in the GCC differs from the “old money” of the past. Their accumulation of wealth is typically more rapid and driven by savvy investment management or entrepreneurism. Many of those joining the ranks of the ultra-high-net-worth include money managers, former hedge fund managers and folks who generated their wealth in private equity. This represents a large population of sophisticated investors with deep networks in the startup and entrepreneurial community who are sitting on tremendous wealth (some estimates put family office total asset value around $6 trillion globally).

“How can I benefit from an offshore company?” is a common question. Tax optimization lies on top of the list. But offshore companies can offer you more than that. Other typical benefits include better privacy, asset protection, ease of incorporation, and low-cost maintenance. Some countries impose ridiculously high tax rates on corporate income. For example, the rates are 37.5% in Puerto Rico, 30% in Germany, and 28.4% in France. That’s why thousands of entrepreneurs out there have decided to go offshore. If you find yourself in this situation, then following the offshore path is the right choice. Tax optimization does not necessarily mean to evade taxes. Breaking the law is not a wise thing to do. When seeking tax solutions, you should comply with both the laws in the incorporated jurisdiction and your home country.

Sean Evans or the rise of a entrepreneur leader: Build a good team. Yes, you must be the brain of all activities and decisions, but your team matters too. Without it, the work cannot be completed, and the desired success will be delayed. So make sure you have professional people around you who are doing well in their field and who can help give your company added value. What you do, your actions matter most. Thus, you take care of the image that you post, because in the end you represent your company and you are solely responsible for it. But do not try to look like someone who you are not, because you will seem fake and you will not inspire confidence. On the contrary, choose to be yourself, honest and open and people will appreciate this. Perhaps the least interesting activity of an entrepreneur is the one regarding the legal and tax aspects, but these are essential both for the success of the business and for the peace of the entrepreneur. In addition, it is much more difficult and costly to try to repair such mistakes later, so together with your consultant or your accountant and notices are needed, which is the tax regime, etc.
